5 Tips On Keeping Yourself Sane When Your Relationship Is Struggling

We’ve all been there, at a rough time in our relationship. In the beginning it may seem like everything is Rainbows and Gumdrops, but  reality is everyone goes through tough times, it is normal after all! If you’re reading this, you probably aren’t feeling the best and for that I am sorry, but I am here to give YOU some tips on how to get through it. 🙂

Think about how much you love them AND WHY. Now is a good time to remind yourself how much you love your spouse and why you love them. It’ll really help you stay strong.

Don’t harp on the bad. Overthinking and harping on your issues will only make you sad, more sad than you already are. Try and keep yourself busy and distracted if you need to.

Get back to an old hobby-or pick a new one! Maybe there is something you used to do a lot, like reading, going to the gym, hikes? Try and do some of that and get back to what makes you happy. If you’ve never tried any of these, I recommend tryin’ them out!

Look through some old pictures of you guys together. Looking at some pictures of when you were happy, together, and not fighting will give you a pleasant feeling in your stomach and will most likely put a smile on your face.

Determine if there is anything worth saving. Now, I know this contradicts the whole ‘Don’t think too much..’ tip, but this is something you can do whenever you are ready! Sometimes the initial shock can leave you quite confused and you may need time away from the topic. Whenever you feel like you can, and after you have gone through all of the other tips I have mentioned here, ask yourself “Is it worth it?”.

Do you do any of these things when going through rough patches?
